History surrounds us, but it rarely announces itself—it lingers in the background, overshadowed by the noise of modern life. At River Valley Woodworks, we seek out and uncover forgotten trees and dismantling buildings that hold the stories of another time. Often, they’re found in places most would overlook. In the Pacific Northwest, it was the mountainous regions—rich in water and natural resources—that drew some of the earliest settlers. These are the landscapes we explore, searching for uncommon timbers ready to be reclaimed, restored, and given a new chapter.

We reclaimed hand-hewn timbers from an 1870s Gold Rush ranch in Garden Valley, Idaho—wood that once supported a working cattle operation feeding Boise Basin miners and now offers a tangible link to the American West.
In Cove, Oregon, we reclaimed a 300-year-old, 66-inch-wide walnut tree—once nourished by an underground spring on a 19th-century ranch—now milled into richly grained slabs ready to become timeless tables.
