Why do we do this?

Why do we feel so strongly about this?
The care, patience, and long-term planning required to bring a tree to maturity stands in contrast to the modern American culture of utilitarianism and efficiency. Also, since shade trees make most sense in cultures that value multi-generational dwellings, we believe that large shade trees could easily become too rare in our modern era of transience and fragmentation.

Extraordinary
Live edge slabs are extraordinary, not only because of their unrepeated look but also because each slab takes so much time to be completed and readied for use. Once we select our logs, they are placed on a saw capable of cutting slabs up to 68” wide! Once cut, we arrange the wood on spacers and allow it to dry for approximately a year. Slabs are then placed in a kiln and dried until they are between 8% and 10 % moisture. The final step is the surfacing process. Once that is completed, our live edge slabs are ready for builders, artisans, homeowners, and woodworkers!
