What Are Live Edge Slabs and Why is Drying Essential?
A live edge slab is a full, natural slice of a tree — a piece that retains the original edge and shape of its trunk. It displays the natural flow of the grain, the knots, and the character that mark the tree’s journey through decades of growth and seasons.

We reduce moisture slowly to below 25% while protecting the slabs from Idaho’s intense sun. - Controlled Steam Treatment
Moisture is removed gradually to protect the internal structure. - Lethal Bug Treatment
We heat to 140°F for 24 hours to eliminate insects. - Slow, Even Drying Over 6–14 Weeks

Six weeks at 100–125°F and 50% humidity bring the moisture safely down to 6–10%. - Final Inspection

Note: Even though bugs will sometimes survive even the most careful kiln drying process, we have developed our process to combine high killing power and careful drying for maximum wood quality.
Our process is also very sustainable. We burn scrap wood in our wood boiler that heats the kiln, reducing our electricity consumption.
